One fine day, we found a good deal on some Seagate Elite 47 SCSI hard
drives. These are 47Gb 5400 RPM 18ms 68-pin SCSI drives that weigh in at
about 7 pounds each. They're huge. They're not speed demons, but they'll
outlast any wimpy 1-year-warranty IDE drive. Mary bought four of them for
$75. Shipping was another $40 or they'd have been a super deal.
I just took the side of my PC case off and ran a couple drives sitting on the table technobilly-style, but Mary built a rawkin' case for hers using an old Tallgrass tape+HD box, circa 1985. Technobilly attics are full of that sort of salvage. |
