Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution grants power to Congress to "promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries;"

Didn't "authors" and "inventors" refer to actual people rather than corporations at the time that that was written? If so, wouldn't "limited times" need to be limited relative to a human lifetime?
